The demands of a digital age require ever increasing electricity supply, but regulatory scrutiny, macroeconomics, investor demands and government approval combined with the financial complexities of the industry significantly narrow the margins for error. Ultimately forced to seek out carbon free power sources, power generators must innovate to surpass the enormous challenge of achieving ambitious carbon targets. But there are rewards for firms that show leadership. Strategic forethought, technical know-how and a determination never to let the customer down will be the corporate hallmarks of the company that wins this award.

The award is open to all power producers (coal, gas, nuclear, oil, hydroelectric or renewable), utilities, transmission companies, power marketers and integrated power companies.

Judges will evaluate nominees’ successful development and implementation of a strategic plan that optimizes performance and growth while taking an aggressive, proactive approach toward a radically altered business and trading environment that moves to replace carbon content.

Judges will focus exclusively on performance and achievements from January 2011.
