This award is open to any energy company—or group of companies—from any sector that has taken decisive action resulting in a substantial transformation or change of direction in the energy industry itself. Candidates will include companies that may have spearheaded a revolution in technology or industrial process, have shown the way in implementation of best-practice safety standards, led the field in corporate or civic responsibility and ethics, or redefined cost-efficiency.
This award is not specifically for business performance (though business performance always helps), but for a company that has found the courage and conviction to make fundamental changes in the way it operates—changes that are so clearly right that other companies have been compelled to follow in its footsteps.
Note: This award is not a “one-off project” or “single innovation” award. A project or technology alone will not be considered for this category.
In addition to considering the track record of an entrant, or group of entrants, since January 2005, judges will be looking for evidence of industry-wide impact since January 2011.
