This section of award categories will recognize courage, dedication, vision and judgment that transform and empower organizations. Each company or individual will be a leader who is highly respected by both peers and competitors, and trusted by investors. These are not awards for organizational effectiveness, or for revenue and profit growth—though without those qualifications, entrants would barely be on the starting grid. These are awards for companies or individuals who have made a difference at a company level, in the industry as a whole or in the lives of peers, employees and the community.

Competitive advantage in today’s global economy depends on new technologies. Tomorrow’s leaders in the energy field are increasingly likely to be those who see ahead of the curve and combine a talent or innovation with an equal capacity to realize commercial gain from their inventions. Spiraling energy demand worldwide poses a dual challenge: to develop new energy sources while extending the life of existing sources. These awards will focus on the research, development and commercialization of new technologies. The company which, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most advances in the saving, making or cleaning up of energy will get the prize.
