This award recognizes exceptional operational and financial performance in the areas of: oil refining, LPG, petrochemicals, biofuels, or marketing and retail services. The strongest candidates in the judges' eyes are likely to excel in several of these activities.
To "do downstream" well, and consistently well, is a matter of tight operational discipline, ingenious market understanding, strategic flexibility and excellence in relationship management. To win this award, the winner will have demonstrated an ability to deliver industry-leading returns at a time of industry duress and execute a long-term strategy that can survive a future market reversal or transition.
Judges will also take into account the challenges of the political and business environments in which entrants are operating.
