Designed specifically to reward engineering excellence, this award is very distinct from the ENR Energy Construction award and will not normally be given to a construction project.
Rather it aims to highlight achievements in surmounting specific engineering challenges, whether in complex and difficult environments, in executing a precision task, or in solving specific engineering problems in new ways.
The engineering and management challenges of the 21st century are among the most complex and interesting puzzles to confront this industry. Keeping pace with the world's energy needs will require not only inventive and practical solutions, but also a clear commitment to safety and the environment.
In choosing a winner, judges will consider environmental factors as well as the technical breadth of project activity. Nominations should highlight a key project and demonstrate its impact and effectiveness, the innovative aspects of the engineering involved, and the difficulties overcome in implementation.
Judges will consider any project completed after June 30, 2008, as well as projects scheduled for completion before December 31, 2009, provided the judges are satisfied by supporting materials that completion will occur on time.
