A key component to future energy sustainability now clearly lies in a combination of the development of renewable and clean energy sources and the development of techniques to greatly reduce energy use.
This award will recognize the business or organization that has demonstrated the strongest commitment, through a specific initiative, aimed at generating more sustainable, green and renewable energy production.
The Green Energy Initiative award will highlight the organization that in the view of the judges has set the best example to others of implementing such strategies.
Winners will be producers and may include, for example, energy companies, industrial end-users who happen to generate energy or government departments which have embarked on a green energy initiative. Such projects and programs may include the production of biofuels, solar energy, geothermal, wind, low-impact hydro, and ocean energy.
Judges will consider any initiative or project implemented since January 2008.
