The 2009 judging process will as ever rely on the expertise of an impartial panel of international energy experts, who have in recent years included energy ministers, national regulators, past and present heads of major energy companies, and leading academics and legislators.
The judges evaluate the entrants and select the finalists and winners based on the criteria listed in each category, taking into consideration where appropriate company profiles and financial performance in the designated time-frame.
The judges may also nominate companies of their own choosing for the Energy Company of the Year award.
The finalists will be announced on the Global Energy Awards Web site and in a press release issued by Platts on September 28, 2009. The winners will then be selected from the list of finalists at a special judging session held in London. The winners will be announced and their awards will be presented on stage at the ceremony to be held December 3, 2009, at Cipriani Wall Street, New York City.
