The world will only achieve carbon neutrality through groundbreaking technological breakthrough - on the supply side and the demand side. The race to bring green technologies to maturity and mass market penetration is fierce, but first movers are discernible and deserve proper recognition.
This award will focus on the research, development and commercialization potential of new technologies, regardless of their state of deployment. The company which in the opinion of the judges has made the single most innovative technology advance in the saving, making or cleaning up of energy will get the prize. Examples include technologies focused on renewable energy, carbon capture and storage, smart grid or smart metering systems, energy storage devices, advanced propulsion systems or electric/hybrid transport.
The award is for "hard" technology only - software systems are not eligible for this award.
Judges will consider any technology launched or patented since June 30, 2008.
