Rules and Requirements | See also Criteria

Please read these carefully. At the judges’ recommendation, there are a number of changes to the rules and additional rules compared with previous years.
  1. No company may be nominated for more than one award on substantially the same basis. Judges will discard entries for multiple awards which broadly replicate other entries. As an example, companies should not nominate themselves simultaneously in Commercial Application and Rising Star Company for a single technological innovation as justification for both.

  2. We reserve the right to move an entry to a different category from the category entered if the entry is better suited to that category.

  3. In the event that there are too few qualified nominations in a particular category, the judges reserve the right to not select a winner in that category. The judges reserve this right in the case of awards to individuals regardless of the number of entries.

  4. The finalists for all individual awards (CEO of the Year, Rising Star – Individual and Lifetime Achievement) are required to attend the Global Energy Awards Dinner to accept their award in person should they be selected the winner.

  5. All nominations must be submitted using the Online Nominating Process. Nominations must be received no later than September 12, 2016. Incomplete entries will not be considered.

  6. Nominations may be submitted either directly from a company, from an involved individual, or from a third party. In the event that a third party nominates a company or individual, Platts will contact the nominated company or individual and ask the nominee, if necessary, to provide more information. If the company or individual fails to provide the required response by the specified date, the nomination will be excluded from consideration.

  7. Each nomination MUST be accompanied by a rationale, not to exceed 300 words, that sumarizes the entry. We strongly encourage you to tailor each summary to the individual category for which you are nominating. All dollar amounts and financial statistics MUST be in U.S. dollars. The Nominating rationale should be submitted electronically through the Online Nominating Process.

  8. All nominations should include a company profile that includes total revenue and profit for the award period described in the overview of each category and size of company. All dollar amounts and financial statistics MUST be in U.S. dollars to be considered. The Company Profile should be submitted electronically through the Online Nominating Process.

  9. Nominations MUST also include additional insight into the nominee’s qualifications as it relates to the Judging Criteria. You will be asked to elaborate on your nomination by providing examples of outstanding accomplishments, the risks involved, significant obstacles that were overcome and any other pertinent information for each of the judging criteria specified in the category descriptions. All dollar amounts and financial statistics MUST be in U.S. dollars. The nomination should be submitted electronically through the Online Nominating Process.

  10. Each nomination will require the nominated company’s logo. For screen quality, we require images of 300 dpi or above, Illustrator or Photoshop RGB EPS files. These files can be emailed to globalenergyawards@spglobal.com

  11. Entries for CEO of the Year, Rising Star Individual and Lifetime Achievement will require a high-resolution color photograph of the individual nominated. These files can be emailed to globalenergyawards@spglobal.com.

  12. Supporting material is not required. Should you choose to send additional materials, please ensure they are supportive of the actual nomination. Supporting materials may include web links, photographs and other documents. Please send all supporting materials via email to globalenergyawards@spglobal.com.

  13. Winners will NOT be notified prior to the Global Energy Awards event.

  14. We anticipate each winner will accept their award on stage at the awards ceremony December 8, 2016 at the Cipriani – Wall St in New York City.

  15. All information submitted through the Online Nominating Process and all supporting materials will be considered strictly confidential and will only be used by Platts and its panel of judges.
